The cave of the stones
At the same level as the altar of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, there
is a gate in the wall that closes a hollow known as: The cave of the stones.
In the past it was used to provide the pilgrims with fragments of rock
according to the words and promises made by Saint Michael during his fourth
apparition. After the reconstruction in the years 1960-1964 this room has
been transformed into an emergency exit. In front, above we see the most
gentle and archaic figure of Our Lady of Grace carved in high relief in
the rock. To the left of this particular sculpture there is an effigy in
a rectangular frame of Saint James of Galizia, or according to some authors
of a holy pilgrim.
